On November 29, 2021, the I University Conference on the Role of Women in the Emerging Sector of the Blue Economy was held, organized by the Cohesion Factory @facocip through the project Un Puerto Violeta @unpuertovioleta.
During the event, views were exchanged on the challenges of women in the blue economy sector and in a general way in scientific careers, and experiences in relation to gender discrimination. In particular, the researcher Dr. Beatriz Fernández Gómez and the doctoral student Perrine Nantois shared their vision on the subject. The minority of women prize winners, e.g. the Nobel Prize, were put on the table despite the importance of their participation in the advancement of science both in times past and in modern times. On the other hand, in their day to day the two scientists face several moments of discrimination, although small, repetitive, both in research and engineering work.
