MARPOCS

Multinational Response and Preparedness to Oil and Chemical Spills (MARPOCS)

This is a project of the DG-ECHO 2015 call, funded by the European Commission in which, based on previous efforts of the EU and in accordance with international parallel protocols (OPRC-HNS etc.), strategies and recent initiatives in R + D + i of that institution, a common operational framework is promoted, with cutting-edge tools to help decision-making based on models, and exercises for SNP and oil spills. The actions of the project are adapted to the Northeast Atlantic region, serving as support for transboundary cooperation, the implementation and training of local, regional and international authorities in the fight against marine pollution and the improvement in efficiency in the systems and tools of prevention before it. Thus, this strategy will strengthen the capacity for mutual assistance and multinational preparedness, as well as the response to episodes of accidental pollution in this transboundary subregion, as planned in the Lisbon Agreement.
